Once, when I was little, I found one of grandmother's geranium bushes in a similar state - all dead-looking tangled branches with one flame-red bloom in the center. That bit of hope - the few green leaves - is a sign to keep hope alive. I'm sure with spring approaching, it will soon be covered in glossy green leaves.
You know, when I first took this picture I didn't even notice that beautiful green leaf. I noticed it when I was making this post...and I actually felt a little more hopeful.
